Dear Diary

As told to Young Skip...
"A great day was looming; this was the day that I had been looking forward to as the best day of the camp. One day off-site - shopping. I was more than a little confused when Skip said that we had to bring a change of clothes and a towel. Maybe a swimming pool has been installed? My confusion was heightened when we left the camp site. We turned the wrong way! I know the way from 20 miles out in any direction and the direction that we were going was definitely not correct. Then Skip said that we would know when we had arrived when we saw a large lake. A lake? I thought it was a former chalk pit. As we drew into the car park I was beside myself. "Bewl Water, near Tonbridge" it said on the entrance sign. Bewl Water, Bewl Water??? I thought Skip said we were going to Blue Water." Anonymous contribution

Day out at Bewl Water

We had a great day at Bewl water Dragon Boat Racing, (the others cheated) Sailing, (boats got lost and Kayaking (running along boats and not getting wet).  Well I think that was the idea.

Back at Camp now having devoured meatballs, pasta, accompanied by one courgette.

Auctioned off spare desserts, lets hope Scouts are tired so we can have a quiet night! Washing up line is now in the tent due to first rain of the day for us!

Joseph has a funny idea of Kayaking

Lucy before she dived in.  She loved the taste of Bewl water.

Comments

Come on everybody, we need your comments.

Scouts can see the Blog and would be pleased to receive messages and comments even if it is only' 'Where did all that mud come from?'

Dear Diary

The scout catapult has never been able to be fired in Chislehurst due to its antisocial tendencies. Downe in Down, so to speak, this is less of an issue so on Carnival we set it up and aimed it towards the Guides. Then who should walk down to visit our camp but none other than the Mayor of Bromley. "Good afternoon" Mr Mayor, I said, as obsequiously as possible, "would you like to have a go on our catapult. I can let you have a specially big water bomb." "Delighted to," he replied, "but do you err think it's a good idea to fire it towards the Guides?" "No probs," I said, "the bomb will go straight over." Unsurprisingly, he didn't "pull the trigger" as much as he should, slamming the bomb into the Meon Valley Guides' dining shelter and knocking over their Victoria Sponges." "Run!" I said. "Where to?" he asked. "That's your problem mate" as I dived into our mess tent bag.

Apology

I do apologise for the ‘Dear Diary’ from ‘Young Skip’ last night but we must keep him out of the sun and off sugary drinks.
I hope he will not find the computer again which I will hide in the cool box!
Excellent Sunday with visits from Parents and friends for Carnival.  Scouts showed visitors from other groups how to make a static catapult and also went to visit other groups.

Off to Bewl Water for water activities tomorrow

Dear Diary

Dear Diary

An excellent day. A special day indeed. Bear Grylls came to visit. An old friend, a very old friend. He ran over my 'phone and I ran over his toe. To make amends he took me to lunch. A very decent lunch. Not camp at all with china plates and glass glasses. Thought for a moment I was back at home. Anyway, he was a charming host. Told me about his adventures in crocodile infested waters and I told him about my scouts. He said that he would rather have the crocodile infested waters. I agreed. I took some photos but due to the earlier incident they haven't come out very well.

A man called David Walliams also attended the lunch. Said he was a comedian. "Joker", I replied. He didn't smile.

Old Skip's been doing some sewing today. Borrowed a sewing kit from the guide leaders next door. Broke the scissors. Gave them a penknife to make amends. They didn't know what it was.

Night, night.

Dinner Saturday evening. Sweet and Sour pork.

Would have been better without the Pork!
